David Justice Explains Twitter Rant Against Halle Berry

Former baseball player David Justice unleashed a Twitter
rant involving ex-wife Halle Berry on Monday night, insisting he
never physically assaulted the actress, and issuing a warning to Olivier
Martinez.

And now, in a new interview with Access Hollywood, Justice
explained his social media onslaught.

“I’m not trying to be the voice of Halle’s exes. What I
was trying to do is let everybody understand that I am in the community
coaching kids from baseball to basketball to football.  I’m trying to be a
role model and I don’t want these kids and my kids’ friends reading [reports] and then everyone looking at me like, ‘I
didn’t know coach did that to some woman.’ I don’t want parents going, ‘I
didn’t know my kid’s coach did that to some woman,'” Justice told Access
on Tuesday.

Berry has
previously spoken about some of her personal experiences with domestic
violence, including watching her mother be abused, but Berry has never accused
Justice of physically abusing her.

On Monday night, in a series of Tweets – most of which have
since been deleted – the former baseball pro (who wed Berry in 1992 before the
couple split in 1996 and divorced in 1997) shot down any suggestion that he
abused his ex.

“Reading the latest Halle Berry Reports,it wasn’t me
who hit Halle causing the ear damage.Halle has never said that I hit her,”
Justice wrote on Twitter on Monday night.

“It just makes me mad to still see the same lie being perpetuated
about the source of her abuse being me.Never happened!#formerboyfriend,” he wrote in
another Tweet.

Justice told Access, “Not only have I never hit Halle, Halle has never
verbally said that I hit her.  What Halle said was that she had been in abusive
relationships. Everyone at that time assumed it must have been me because I was
the only guy at that point in time that everyone knew she had dated or
married.”

The athlete – who retired from
professional baseball after the 2002 season – also said he wasn’t speaking out
to bring attention to himself, rather to clear his name.

“Twenty years ago, I didn’t
have any kids. Twenty years ago, I was just trying to get away from a bad
situation. A lot of things were said about me that [weren’t] true, that [weren’t] a part of
the relationship,” he told Access. “Because we are in the social
media era, something like this gets reported and if I don’t say anything,
people will take that as it must have been true. I can’t have that. I have a
15-, 13-, 11-year-old and I’m in my community coaching, trying to be a good role model.”

“It’s not about me trying
to get my name back in the media. I’m not trying to get a reality show. I just
felt like I needed to say something,” he added to Access. “I don’t
like the fact that when I’m brought up there has to be this stigma of this
alleged abuse.”

In one of the other Tweets, which have since been deleted,
Justice seemed to send a message to Halle’s now most recent ex, Olivier
Martinez.

“Just wait,Olivier..It’s coming! She insinuated that
her daughter wasn’t safe around Gabriel..look it up and see the reason! Just
wrong.smh,” Justice reportedly wrote.

So has he spoken to Berry
at all?

“I am not in contact with Halle or any of the
boyfriends, nor am I trying to be. I’m not that dude,” he concluded.

Later on Tuesday, Justice returned to Twitter with a
seemingly softer stance, thanking his ex.

Following Justice’s second round of Tweets, on Tuesday, a source close to this
situation tells Access that Halle Berry has yet to comment on David Justice’s
Tweets regarding their relationship.
