David Lynch: ‘Twin Peaks’ Revival Is Happening

The “Twin Peaks” revival is back on, again, and bigger than before!

David Lynch, who co-created the ’90s series with Mark Frost, announced the news on Twitter on Friday.

“Dear Twitter Friends, the rumors are not what they seem ….. It is !!! Happening again. #TwinPeaks returns on @SHO_Network,” he Tweeted.

David is back at the helm of the series, which will now feature more than the originally talked about nine episodes.

“This damn fine cup of coffee from Mark and David tastes more delicious than ever,” Showtime president David Nevins said in a statement on Friday. “Totally worth the extra brewing time and the cup is even bigger than we expected. David will direct the whole thing which will total more than the originally announced nine hours. Preproduction starts now!!”

Series star Kyle MacLachlan, who will reprise his role in the upcoming Showtime version (as will Sheryl Lee and Dana Ashbrook), took to Twitter to share his excitement over the news.

“Welcome back again!! #TwinPeaks Special Agent Dale Cooper! on #Showtime #damnfinecoffee,” he Tweeted, before posting a vintage photo from the series.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, after more than a year of developing a continuation of the beloved fan favorite series, David Lynch exited the project in early April over a salary dispute.

“Twin Peaks” aired for two seasons from 1990 to 1991 on ABC, then got the big screen treatment in 1992’s “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me.”
