Defendants In Travolta Extortion Case Plead Not Guilty

Two people accused of attempting to extort millions from the Travolta family following the death of their son Jett, pled not guilty in a Bahamian court on Tuesday, TMZ reported.

Former Bahamian Senator Pleasant Bridgewater, who was charged with abatement to extort, and paramedic Tarino Lightbourne, who was charged with attempted extortion, were arraigned together, according to E! Online.

Various previous reports have alleged that the two claimed to have embarrassing information related to Jett’s death. They allegedly were seeking $25 million from the grieving family.

During today’s court proceeding, prosecutors also revealed they plan to call John Travolta as a key witness in the trial, E! reported.

The case is reportedly set to begin on September 21.
