Demi Moore Uses Twitter To Send Alleged Suicidal Woman Help

The life of a woman who claimed to be suicidal was saved on Friday with the help of Demi Moore and Twitter.

A woman sent the actress a message on the mirco-blogging Web site saying, “getting a knife, a big one that is sharp. Going to cut my arm down the whole arm so it doesn’t waste time.”

Demi re-Tweeted (re-posted) her message on her own Twitter page, writing, “Hope you are joking,” and “Everyone I was very torn about responding or retweeting that woman’s post but felt uncomfortable just letting it go.”

After reading Demi’s post about the alleged suicidal woman, other Twitter users who saw Demi’s post got involved posting messages that they were reaching out to police.

“the twitterverse is on the case just called silicon valley pd to report this woman many others had called. fingers crossed,” one user wrote in a post.

A rep for the San Jose Police Department told Access Hollywood said they “received several phone calls” about the woman starting at 3 AM on Friday. The calls were coming in from “all over the place, from far away places.”

Police told Access they “did locate the subject” and she had not hurt herself. The unidentified woman was “taken for evaluation.”

The good news quickly traveled across the Twitter universe and back to Demi, who thanked her followers for their help.

“Thanks everyone for reaching out to the San Jose PD i am told they are aware and no need to call anymore. I do not know this woman,” the actress wrote. “I am inspired by the enormous response of humanity here and thank you… It is my understanding that the situation was not a joke and that through the collective efforts here action was taken to provide help!”
