Denise Richards: ‘I Have A Lot Of Faith In’ Charlie Sheen

Despite Tuesday’s incident, which landed Charlie Sheen in the hospital after a wild night at New York City’s Plaza hotel, Denise Richards still believes in her ex-husband.

“I have a lot of faith in my ex,” Denise said during an interview with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb during the fourth hour of NBC’s “Today” show on Wednesday.

“I’m concerned about our children. My concern is to keep them protected and thank God they’re 5 and 6 and they still cannot just turn on the computer or the television to watch the news,” she explained during her interview while promoting Season 2 of her Spike TV show, “Blue Mountain State.” “That’s where my priority is, keeping them safe and secure and not knowing what went on… The girls are unaware of anything, so as far as they know, they had a great time with mom and dad in New York.”

Denise remained mostly mum on Charlie’s Tuesday headline-grabbing incident, but revealed, “The thing that I will say, I wasn’t screaming or freaking out. I did not call 911 and other than that the details of what went on in the room that night, I prefer to keep private and personal. My daughters are very unaware of what happened and I’m really trying to protect them.”

Adding, “If [Charlie] wants to discuss it, I’ll let him do it… right now, I don’t want to say anything.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, the New York Post reported that the “Two and a Half Men” star was allegedly found in his underwear and seemingly intoxicated on Tuesday morning after returning to his hotel with an unidentified woman. Sheen reportedly could not find his wallet. He then reportedly flew “into a rage” and “trashed” his hotel room. Richards and their children were also staying at the hotel.

On Tuesday, Sheen’s rep, Stan Rosenfield, told Access, “What we are able to determine is that Charlie had an adverse allergic reaction to some medication and was [he] taken to the hospital, where is expected to be released tomorrow.”

Sheen flew back to Los Angeles on Tuesday afternoon.
