Dennis Quaid: Twins Are ‘Doing Fantastic’

As Dennis Quaid and his wife, Kimberly, arrived to Sundance, the couple received a blizzard of support from the bundled up fans.

The reaction perhaps elicited by sympathy for everything the Quaids have gone through with their newborn twins’ medical nightmare, as just two months ago, their infants were left fighting for their lives after a potentially fatal overdose of Heparin.

Dennis, in Sundance for the premiere of his new film “Smart People,” spoke with Access Hollywood about what it was like leaving his kids home for the first time since the terrible accident.

“The millions of people who are going to watch this will wonder how your kids are doing,” Access’ Tony Potts told Dennis.

“They’re doing great,” Quaid beamed. “Both of them are at home and they’re… they’re changing. They’re cooing and gurgling and eating – making lots of noise.”

Just nine days after being born, Thomas and Zoe Quaid were taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on November 17 for a staph infection. They were reportedly given an overdose – 2,000 times more than needed – of the blood thinning drug Heparin.

But now, the babies are home doing all the things happy, healthy newborns do.

“Lots of poop,” Quaid laughed. “They’re doing fantastic.”
