Denzel, Jack & More Tackle Christmas Day Openings

A Christmas tradition everyone can take part in is going to the movies – and four new films are ready for your holiday plate.

Denzel Washington pulls double duty, directing and starring in “The Great Debaters,” with fellow Oscar winner, Forest Whitaker.

It’s the gripping true story of an all-black debate team in 1930s Jim Crow South, which made history by taking on Harvard in a monumental first.

“It’s a story that deals with the human spirit and the ability to win through all odds,” Forest explained to Access Hollywood.

Another Oscar-duo – Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson finally take the plunge, teaming up in Rob Reiner’s dramedy, “The Bucket List.”

“Well, I mean here we are, finally gonna work together,” Morgan recalled of taking the part opposite Jack. “I [was]just trying to act nonchalant instead of walking around and jumping up and down every minute or so.”

The two play terminally ill men who set out on a quest to achieve their life’s goal before they, “kick the bucket.”

When a Scottish boy stumbles upon a mysterious egg, he finds a secret, a growing secret in the family-friendly take on the Loch Ness legend fantasy, “Water Horse.”

Finally, one film that is no “Silent Night,” is the extra-terrestrial rampage, “Alien vs. Predator: Requiem.”
