Des’ree Files Lawsuit Against Beyonce

Des’ree has the power to stop Beyonce.

Shipments of the Beyonce album “B-Day Deluxe Edition” will not include a remake of the Des’ree song “I’m Kissing You” until a legal dispute is cleared up.

Des’ree co-wrote that song and released it in 1996. Des’ree’s representatives have filed a copyright infringement suit against Beyonce and her label.

Music World Entertainment, which represents Beyonce, says there were “some misunderstandings regarding whether Des’ree’s song ‘(I’m) Kissing You’ was cleared for release in the United States.”

Beyonce’s remake is called “Still in Love (Kissing You)” and was included on versions of the album released since April third.

International versions of the album are not affected because they did not include that track. The lawsuit seeks to stop distribution of the album and asks for damages in excess of 150-thousand dollars.
