‘Dexter’s’ Jennifer Carpenter: Season 6 Is ‘Best Season So Far’

“Dexter” star Jennifer Carpenter says the upcoming Season 6 of her bloody good series will bring about major developments along with plenty of gore.

“A lot of changes this year. You get more into the lives of all the characters,” the actress, who plays Debra Morgan, told Access Hollywood at The HP Touchsmart Emmy Gift Lounge, produced by On 3 Productions, on Sunday in Los Angeles.

“I think it’s probably our best season so far,” she continued. “We’re 11 [episodes] in and I feel like I could do 12 more. It’s just that exciting!”

When the new season kicks off, the storylines for the show’s characters will have made a jump in time.

“It’s a year later, so everybody is brand new,” the 31-year-old actress explained. “[Deb] gets a pretty nice promotion early in the season. That changes everything for her… she’s the boss!”

Deb might be in charge, but her brother Dexter (played by Michael C. Hall) – who Showtime is referring to as “The Avenging Angel” for Season 6 – is bound to find himself at the center of plenty of serial killer mayhem.

“It’s gory, but it’s… I don’t know if I’d even say gory! It just worries me that our writers are sitting around in rooms thinking of this stuff,” she told Access. “And then they try to act like they’re normal!”

Adding, “It’s really good, I’m happy!”

“Dexter” Season 6 premieres on October 2 at 9 PM on Showtime.
