Dick Clark Death Certificate Released; Visionary Had Surgery Day Before Heart Attack

Dick Clark had surgery the day before he died, it was confirmed by the release of his death certificate on Monday.

According to the document, obtained by Access Hollywood, Clark underwent a transurethral resection of the prostate.

According to WebMD, the surgery is used to remove the portion of the prostate that blocks urine flow, and according to the death certificate, he had acute urinary retention, which led to the surgery.

Clark had the surgery on April 17, he died the following day. He was 82.

The television legend’s death has been attributed to acute myocardial infarction (a heart attack) and coronary artery disease.

A rep for Clark confirmed to Access Hollywood on Monday that the broadcast visionary was cremated and his ashes were scattered at sea. There will be no funeral for the star. Plans for a memorial are still being finalized.
