Did Dina Lohan Get The Facts Right During ‘Today’ Interview?

Dina Lohan caused a stir with her tense appearance on the “Today” show on Friday, talking about daughter Lindsay Lohan’s time in jail and rehab, but was what she said accurate? Access investigates Dina’s truth vs. fiction.

Lindsay’s Rehab Stints

When “Today’s” Matt Lauer said that Lindsay had been in rehab four times, Dina said the anchor’s statement was incorrect.

“This is the fourth time,” Matt said.

“No, actually not,” Dina replied, later claiming Lindsay has been in rehab just two times.

“OK, my notes had four,” Matt replied.

“No, I don’t know where you’re reading something,” she said. “That’s not true.”

According to Michael Lohan, Dina is wrong.

“She’s been in four,” Michael told Access Hollywood on Friday.

At Access Hollywood’s count, Lindsay has been in rehab four times: UCLA (where she is currently), Wonderland Center in LA, where she spent time in January 2007, Promises Rehab, where she underwent six weeks of treatment and was released in July 2007, and finally, Cirque Lodge in Utah, where she spent more than two months, beginning in August 2007.

Later in the interview, Dina seemed to change her count when Matt went through the different rehabs.

“This is her fourth time in rehab, correct?” Matt asked.

“Third, actually,” she said.

Dina & Michael’s Relationship

Dina claimed to Matt that she and ex-husband Michael Lohan haven’t been together “in 15 years.”

In fact, Dina and Michael’s youngest child, Cody, was born in 1996. He turned 14 in June.

Additionally, Michael told Access on Friday that the two were together as close as just a few years ago.

“It’s a documented fact that it has only been less than five,” he said.

Although Dina filed for divorce in 2005, it is unclear how long they had been separated prior to her filing.

Dina vs. Michael On Their Children

Dina claimed to Matt that Michael “doesn’t speak to Lindsay, he doesn’t speak to my other children.”

Not so, says Michael, who told an Access producer that he sees his sons Cody and Michael constantly. He said he last saw his oldest son, Michael, three weeks ago, and that Michael is now in fact working for his dad. Additionally, he said he saw Ali six weeks ago. Although, this perhaps was unwillingly, when he came to LA to “rescue” Ali from Lindsay.

The (Former) Judge In Lindsay’s Case

Dina claimed to Matt on “Today” that Judge Marsha Revel is off the case for playing “hardball.”

“I think she went overboard and played serious hardball with Lindsay,” Dina said.

Access Hollywood, however, has learned from a source close to the situation that Judge Revel actually asked to recuse herself from the case for several reasons. The source said she had calls and meetings with defense attorneys and experts, but did not include the prosecutor in Lindsay’s case on the calls. Her departure from the case had nothing to do with her strict rulings on the actress’ case.
