Dish of Salt: Exclusive Baby Bump Edition!

Well, this will probably be the first and last time I can say I have something in common with Mariah Carey. Since I don’t have a five-octave vocal range and I can’t hit any high notes… it must be something else, right?

Today, I can confirm I am pregnant with my first child due in the spring.

Having covered “American Idol” for 10 seasons here at Access Hollywood, it only makes sense that my baby would be due during the show’s Top 12 rounds. Don’t worry, I will still be covering the show this season like always (as much as I can) until my baby arrives. You know I love the show and I’m looking forward to seeing if new judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler can spice it up. Trust me, if “American Idol” still exists in 2016, my kid will be first in line at the auditions!

Just to put an end to any speculation, at the current moment I’ll be embarking on this journey as a single mom, which I know might evoke some anger and rage out of FOX News’ Bill O’Reilly. He famously bashed Jennifer Aniston, in August of this year (while promoting her film, “The Switch”), for saying women don’t need a man to raise a child, calling the actress “destructive to our society.” Well, Bill all I have to say to you is, “You can suck it!” I couldn’t be happier, my family couldn’t be happier. I have an incredible support system of family and friends and my baby will have a life full of love and laughter regardless of my current relationship status. I’m blessed at 39 years old to have been granted this gift and I have no regrets.

Now with that out of the way… In honor of my impending motherhood, I have been gathering up advice from Hollywood moms. Yesterday morning, I chatted with Laila Ali, who was out promoting the Anthem Blue Cross Live Like a Champion Tour, which encourages children to become physically active and make healthy food choices. Laila is pregnant with her second child. She also has a 2-year-old son, Curtis, who she tells me might become a little jealous when he realizes a brother or sister is on the way. As Laila put it, he’s “mama’s boy” right now and may not take too kindly to sharing the spotlight. Check out what advice she had for me HERE.

Plus, Laila tells me why she believes childhood obesity has become an epidemic in America and what can be done about it HERE.

This week, I also sat down with Kendra Wilkinson whose E! reality show, “Kendra,” returns for season three November 7. This season will focus on her decision to pose for Playboy again (showing off her post-baby body) after someone remarks that women are no longer sexy once they become moms. Rude, and so not true, and Kendra explains why in our interview HERE.

Last week, I got a glimpse into my future when I travelled to the set of “Better With You.” In the show, JoAnna Garcia’s character, Mia, is pregnant. The episode they were filming was their Thanksgiving episode and Mia is now six months pregnant. That means that from here on out, JoAnna has to sport a fake belly bump during filming. She proudly showed off her new found “bump” to me in our interview HERE.
