Dish Of Salt: Tuesday TV Round Up

NPH to “Glee”?
So I was a little annoyed this morning when someone emailed an article that Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello was reporting that Neil Patrick Harris was close to signing on for a May sweeps episode of FOX’s “Glee,” to be directed by Joss Whedon (the director behind the brilliant “Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog” which just happens to star NPH.) Why am I annoyed you ask? Because I spoke to NPH on Sunday at our 4th Annual Stuff You Must Lounge and we talked about this and NPH made it seem like it was never gonna happen. Here is how the conversation went:

DOS: I liked your 100th episode with your ‘suit’ musical number. Are you going to do more musical numbers?
NPH: Probably never.
DOS: Why?
NPH: We just did one. We’re not “Glee!”
DOS: I love “Glee.”
NPH: I love “Glee” too.
DOS: Would you be on “Glee” if they asked?
NPH: Uh, different network.
DOS: I don’t care.
NPH: Well I know you don’t care but there are other people that might!

Now you would think someone who was in talks would have said something a little different. So I’m thinking maybe this all went down at the Golden Globes or I guess NPH just likes Ausiello better than me!

SAG Presenters
The “Golden Globes” are just a distant memory now as we head into the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on Saturday night. Justin Timberlake, Sigourney Weaver, Ray Romano, Jeremy Renner, Carey Mulligan, Anna Kendrick and Felicity Huffman were announced as presenters today. They join previously announced presenters George Clooney, Sandra Bullock, Jane Lynch, Anna Paquin, Meryl Streep and Chris O’Donnell. The SAG awards will be simulcast live on TNT and TBS on Saturday, January 23 at8 PM.

Garth’s New Gig
After telling me over the weekend inside our Stuff You Must lounge that she was no longer doing “90210,” Jennie Garth starts her first new gig today. The celebrity mom will be hosting a new Web series called “Garden Party,” which is being distributed on iVillage. Garth hopes to motivate families to incorporate vegetables into their families lives. In the series, Garth meets with farmers, chefs, moms and kids to help find new ways to get families to love their veggies. Overall, Garth seems to be focusing her career on family. She tells me her next project is writing a children’s book.

“Millionaire Matchmaker” Returns
The queen of matchmaking, Patti Stanger, is back tonight with season three of her hit Bravo show. The show will feature its first ever bi-curious woman, “who can’t decided if she is gay or straight,” Stanger tells me. “She kind of looks like Tila Tequila. And she will break down and cry and have a moment that is dear to my heart. There will a bi curious, bi sexual mixer which is so much fun.”

Stanger says like last season they will have gay millionaires again and one person not so dear to her heart will return, Shauna — a forty-something woman who would only date hot, younger men. “We have got Shauna the barracuda, Botox bitch is back. I actually didn’t bring her back. Dustin brought her back and asked me if I would give her a second chance and I have a policy in the company — second chances always.”

Stanger who was recently engaged to her longtime boyfriend will also be planning her wedding this season. “We are looking towards next year maybe even the summer. We are not sure if its 2010 or 2011. First we have to find a house,” she said. Badgley Mischka is designing her wedding gown.
