Divorced Twice, Cybill Shepherd Having ‘Fun’ With First Ever Engagement

Cybill Shepherd is celebrating a duo of firsts – she recently made her Broadway debut in Gore Vidal’s “The Best Man,” and she also got engaged for the first time.

“I’ve never been engaged,” the actress told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Tuesday’s Access Hollywood Live. “I’ve been married.”

The former “Cybill” star has been married twice, but her engagement – to Andrei Nikolajevic – is new. Asked why she’s never been engaged before, Cybill said, “Well, I was pregnant, so we kind of just got married.”

The actress said she’s enjoying being someone’s fiancee.

“[It’s] kind of fun,” she said.

Speaking of the moment her jeweler-turned-psychologist beau proposed, Cybill said it was a blissful experience.

“It was a very romantic moment and we’ve been together about three years and he makes me laugh and he’s fantastic,” she said.

Romance, however, is less easy on Cybill’s Broadway character, Alice Russell, in “The Best Man,” which runs through September 9.

She’s having trouble with her Presidential candidate husband, and she’s not the warmest of ladies either.

“I’m kind of an uptight lady. I’m not warm and cozy and my character is loosely based on Jacqueline Kennedy because Gore was very, very tight with the Kennedys,” Cybill explained.

“The Best Man,” also starring John Larroquette, runs through Sept. 9 at New York City’s Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre.
