DIY Winter Skin Savers (Glam Slam)

This Polar Vortex business is wreaking havoc on millions having to endure the brutally cold conditions, as well as the stress created by delayed flights, extended travel times, etc.

Tata Harper, founder of Tata Harper Skincare (celebrity fans include Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Alba, Lake Bell, Liv Tyler and Leighton Meester ), shares some DIY recipes to help get you through the harsh effects of one of the worst winters ever.

A body scrub that’s effective for softening the skin’s texture with sugar exfoliation and hydrating with high-quality oils.

  • 1 1/4 cup organic cane sugar (fine!)
  • 1/2 cup organic coconut oil
  • 1-2 tbsp sweet almond oil
  • 1 tbsp vitamin e

A few drops of your favorite essential oil (we recommend orange for a brightening, mood-boosting scrub, or clove oil to help ease aches and pains).

A hair mask for strong, shiny, hydrated hair despite drying winter weather. Sometimes it’s best to just use what’s available in the kitchen – especially when it’s naturally super-nutritious for the hair and skin!

Blend together:

  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons raw honey
  • 1/2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Massage into the scalp and let sit for an hour – cover with a cap if you’d like, then wash off as normal!
