Donald Trump Speaks Out On Bernard Madoff Financial Scandal

Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush spoke exclusively with Donald Trump for Access and “The Billy Bush Show,” regarding his thoughts on the Bernard Madoff financial scandal.

“He is definitely a sleazebag,” Trump told Bush. “There is no question about it.”

Madoff, who was recently arrested for securities fraud, had previously asked Trump to invest with him on numerous occasions. Trump, who always declined to invest, said, “I never knew he was such a guru. He was like the Svengali for rich people.”

Trump, who had many friends in Palm Beach that invested with Madoff, elaborated, “It’s a crazy thing. It has destroyed a lot of families and a lot of people.”

When Bush asked what Trump thinks will happen to Madoff, Trump replied, “Hopefully he goes away for many years, like 25 years, which is longer than he will be alive.”

According to the London Times, Madoff’s sons issued a statement denying knowledge of Madoff’s alleged activities. A lawyer for the brothers said they were not involved in the asset management operations of the company, and that “they were shocked to learn of his actions.”

“If the sons didn’t know about this, I would be shocked. The sons knew…everybody knew,” Trump added. “There is no way of operating a scheme like that without knowing.”
