Dorothy Hamill: My Figure Skating Skills Are No Help On Dancing With The Stars

Dorothy Hamill might be a pro in the ice, but in the ballroom she’s a “klutz”!

The Olympic gold medalist and her “Dancing With the Stars” pro partner, Tristan MacManus, appeared on Tuesday’s Access Hollywood Live, where she revealed that her skills in the rink aren’t translating – yet – on to the dance floor.

“I’m such a klutz,” the 56-year-old skater who took home a gold medal at the 1976 Olympics, told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover. “I’m so all over the place!”

Dorothy appears to miss her skates when she’s wearing her dance gear.

“The shoes, the balances, I’m always wanting to skate some place,” she said when asked what is most difficult for her.

Fellow queen of the ice and Season 6 “DWTS” winner Kristi Yamaguchi has offered up some advice for Dorothy.

“Kristi is amazing, she can do anything. She’s trying to give me some tips,” Dorothy explained. “She says I should listen to my partner.”

Partner Tristan is staying more positive about their chances for mirrorball glory.

“It’s going good,” he told Billy and Kit, explaining that they are not concerned about any particular competing pair just yet. “We’re just worried about us.”

“I have the best partner, that’s all I can say,” Dorothy added.

The new season “DWTS” season kicks off on March 18 at 8 PM on ABC.
