Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Hercules’ Body Secrets!

Playing a Greek demigod is tough – even for Dwayne Johnson!

The actor, who is no stranger to the gym, told Access Hollywood that he trained like never before to get his body just right for the upcoming “Hercules.”

“It was an eight month training and prep and diet,” he said of achieving his build, which he debuted this week at CinemaCon.

The 41-year-old star wants his version of the classic character to rise above the others who previously sported the loin cloth.

“You get one shot to make Hercules. There’s been other iterations of Hercules in the past. Different actors and different men over the decades, but we wanted to make the definitive version. And if I was gonna make the definitive version, I’m gonna put eight months of hard work in there,” he continued.

According to the actor, the process of getting the movie to the big screen – which took 10 years – paid off.

“The movie is great…it’s beyond my expectation. It met my expectations and then [went] beyond, because you never know with a movie that big in size and scope, and we didn’t rely a lot of green screen or crazy visual effects,” he explained. “So there’s a great substance to it… and we have these big, epic battles.”

But the big, epic fun won’t be for just the guys.

“Girls will like it too,” he told Access. “[I’m] shirtless and in a loin cloth!”

“Hercules” storms into theaters on July 25.
