A beloved member of the “Dancing with the Stars” cast was sent home on Monday night’s show.

“The Price Is Right” host Drew Carey and professional dance partner Cheryl Burke were eliminated from the stiff competition on Monday’s “DWTS,” and the cast was disappointed to see the pair, who brought a lot of fun to the ballroom, go home.

But Drew left with his upbeat style on display.
“I got farther than I thought I would, to tell you the truth and I love the show,” Drew said after learning the news. “I’ve been watching for years. I always wondered what it would be like to be on the thing and dancing with Cheryl specifically, and Cheryl’s great. … I just wanna say thanks for letting me borrow your dance floor and letting me fulfill this fantasy. … Thanks for all the kindness and the love, thank you.”

Beyond the elimination, the competition was fierce on Monday night. Last week’s leaderboard rulers James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd lost their top spot. Instead, it was Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy who claimed the night’s top title.
Meryl and Maks took home a perfect score after they performed a tango to the Party Anthem song “I Feel So Close To You Right Now” (Calvin Harris). And after a tough rehearsal week, they found themselves the recipients of tremendous praise for their routine.
“There is something so magical happening between you two,” Carrie Ann Inaba said, calling their performance, “truly artistic excellence.”
She also called the routine Maks’ “best choreography ever.”

Redfoo from LMFAO, who served as a guest judge, compared them to “E.T.,” because their performance was — as he called it — “out of this world.”
Len praised Meryl for keeping up with Maks’ style.
“You’re the first celebrity that has been able to match him and keep up with him,” the British judge said.
Amy Purdy and Derek Hough, who tackled a speedy jive to “Shout” (The Isley Brothers), came in second for the night.
“That blew my mind,” Redfoo said.
“This is a real life superhero,” Bruno Tonioli told Amy. “What you have achieved, most of us would consider impossible. … Jive is the most difficult dance for anybody to perform. What you’ve done, I don’t think I’ve ever seen in 18 seasons here and 11 in the UK, anybody doing what you’ve done tonight.”
Danica McKellar and Valentin Chmerkovskiy proved they are really contenders, cha cha cha-ing all the way to a 36-point score (they danced to Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”). They tied with Charlie White and Sharna Burgess who earned their score also with the cha cha (to “Everybody Dance Now,” by C+C Music Factory).
James and Peta came in fifth for the night, netting 35 points for a “Grease”-inspired quickstep to “You’re The One That I Want.”

NeNe Leakes and Tony Dovolani were next on the leaderboard with a salsa to “Hot in Herre” (Nelly) that earned them 33 out of 40.
Candace Cameron Bure and Mark Ballas landed at the bottom of the leaderboard for their cha cha to “I Love It” (Icona Pop), which was scored 32 points.
