“American Horror Story” returned to television on Wednesday night, and in the coming weeks, a familiar face will return to the drama – Dylan McDermott.
Ryan Murphy Tweeted the announcement on Wednesday.
“So thrilled to announce Dylan McDermott is returning to American Horror Story,” he wrote.
It is unclear which character Dylan, who starred in the first season of the show, will play. The second season of “American Horror Story” is already set up as a new show.
This time around, the series is set back in 1964, and in an asylum run by nuns.
Jessica Lange is back on the show – this season as Sister Jude, who runs the dark and creepy home (Briarcliff Asylum) for mental patients.

On Wednesday’s episode, she proved to be a complex character who has her eye on Dr. Arthur Arden (James Cromwell), a physician who seems to be carrying out experiments on the patients.
Sarah Paulson, who plays journalist Lara Winter, became a patient in the premiere episode (they plan to try and “cure” her character’s homosexuality) after she was caught snooping around.
“The Voice’s” Adam Levine was also featured in the episode, playing one half of a horror-loving couple, who were snooping through the abandoned asylum in present day. Unfortunately for the rocker, he had his arm ripped off by an unseen creature, and ended up — at the end of the episode — lying on the floor, bleeding out.
“American Horror Story” airs Wednesday at 10 PM on FX.
