‘Eclipse’ Producer On Rob & Kristen: ‘I Hope They Stay Together’

An “Eclipse” producer has offered a confirmation of his film’s stars’ private romance.

“The thing I do think about is, ‘Oh my God, I hope they stay together,’” Wyck Godfrey told Time magazine of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, who have kept mum on their relationship status despite almost a year of heavy rumors. “Because it could be awkward on set in the next movie if they have a huge falling out. It’s like, ‘Wow, they have to portray this love story through two more movies.’”

Wyck added that he didn’t think Rob and Kristen’s tabloid appearances affected the success of “The Twilight Saga,” which has so far grossed over a billion dollars worldwide with previous films “Twilight” and “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” combined.

“I haven’t even thought of it that way… If you look at people who have a stable personal life, the rags get tired of them. I think we’re heading to that place where they are together and that’s their life and we better find someone new to create drama out of,” Wyck told the mag.

Wyck also weighed in on the recasting of the role of Victoria, which was played by Rachelle Lefevre in the series’ first two films before Bryce Dallas Howard took over for “Eclipse.”

“I think her management told her it would be fine and that she could do both [projects] without really understanding the realities of our schedule,” He explained. “We were locked into shooting her those first two weeks, and those were the weeks that she wasn’t available. That was a hard lesson. As a producer you can work around [scheduling conflicts] when there’s lead time, but when you find out at the last minute, you cannot. And it was heartbreaking for her and us.”

“The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” hits theaters today.
