Elisabetta Canalis Declares She ‘Will Be Married’ Despite Boyfriend George Clooney’s Anti-Marriage Stance

Elisabetta Canalis, George Clooney’s 32-year-old girlfriend, has opened up to Italy’s Chi magazine about her relationship with the actor, declaring she “will be married” someday.

However, this could pose a problem for her current love connection, as her beau has been extremely vocal about his desire to retain his bachelor status!

“I am a firm believer in marriage — in the future I will be married,” she told the mag in a recent interview. “But for the time being, I am happy as I am.”

The Italian beauty also said she’s painfully aware of the tabloids’ criticism of her and George’s two-year relationship.

“They all say that I spend my time organizing parties and that my boyfriend does not want to marry me and be with me anymore,” she told the mag. “My boyfriend has not given an interview on his private life since 1999 – everything that you read is just a rehash of stuff that has been written in the past.”

While she may be entertaining thoughts of diamond sparklers and a romantic walk down the aisle, Elisabetta said she’s not quite ready to be a mother.

“[My] maternal instinct has not kicked in yet,’ she said. “My mother says when it does, it will be like a lightening bolt.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, George, 50, has said he plans to remain single.

“I hate to blow your whole news story, but I was married,” the actor/philanthropist said in an interview on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight” in January, when asked by his father Nick (who appeared alongside the actor) about considering marriage. “Yeah, so I’ve proven how good I was at it, and I just. … I’m allowed one.”

George was married to actress Talia Balsam – currently known for her role as Mona Sterling on AMC’s “Mad Men” — from 1989 to 1993, but the union ended in divorce.
