Elle Macpherson Shares Her Secrets For Staying In Incredible Shape

Elle Macpherson’s nickname is “The Body” and the paparazzi flocked to capture the supermodel’s famous frame as she frolicked in the Australian surf over the holidays in bikinis and wetsuits.

Stunning at 47, Elle revealed she stays in incredible shape by listening to her body.

“My focus has never been about looking great in the mirror, my focus has been about being strong and healthy and feeling well, so wellness is No. 1,” she told AccessHollywood.com, following the NBC Television Critics Association Winter Session panel for her upcoming show, “Fashion Star.”

“When I make choices for myself, I make the decision not on, ‘Is that gonna make me thinner?’ It’s, ‘How do I feel when I eat that food?’ or, ‘How do I feel when I do that sport?’” she added.

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue legend said she opts for athletic activities to keep up her fitness.

“Most of the time, I tend to do things that are fun, so I laugh a lot and I surf, even though I’m not very good. And I ski, and I water ski, and I hike, and I play tennis,” she continued. “I love to do things, I’m competitive. I compete with myself and I compete with others and I have fun.”

She also takes care of herself.

“Lots of water, drink a lot of water, sleep seven hours and I try to eat organically produced [food]… just no pesticides and no preservatives,” she said.

The model-turned-television producer said she relates to fellow Australian Hugh Jackman, who is also often captured by the paparazzi being active on the beaches of Down Under.

“Hugh and I have a very similar attitude towards physicality,” she said. “Hugh is very renowned for his body, but that body, it’s his lifestyle. It’s not hours and hours and hours.”

“Fashion Star,” featuring mentors Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie and John Varvatos, premieres on March 13 on NBC.
