Emily Bett Rickards On ‘Velveteen’ & ‘Sensuous’ Olicity In ‘Arrow’ Season 4

“Arrow’s” Oliver and Felicity are officially an item as Season 4 begins, and when the show resumes on The CW, there will be more romantic moments between the pair.

“It’s going to be very velveteen, sensuous,” Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity) told Access Hollywood over the weekend at Comic-Con. “We kind of get to see them in their life as a couple, which’ll be really nice, which is what I wanted, so I’m happy about that.”

On screen, Stephen Amell’s character, Oliver Queen, ended Season 3 revealing that he felt happy, a moment Emily was proud to see happen on The CW show.

“I thought there was a lot of progress because it’s not something you would normally say,” she told Access. “It’s not a thing a lot of people say to be honest. You never really state that you’re happy. ‘Hello,’ ‘How are you?’ ‘I’m good,’ and it’s usually on autopilot. And having somebody… like recognize that they’re happy is huge… monumental, especially for someone [who has] gone through so much in the past maybe 10 years even. I mean, that’s a long time.”

When “Arrow,” which just started filming again this week, returns in October, Felicity will be growing more confident and comfortable in her relationship with Oliver on a romantic level, changing the dynamic.

“It does because it takes away Felicity sort of walking on eggshells to a certain extent because she would touch him and be like, ‘Oh my God,’ but now she kind of gets to touch him and still be like, ‘Oh my God,’ but she’s allowed to stay there. And I think that that’s something we all go through with relationships anyway, but especially with her sort of having that with Oliver for so long and not knowing whether or not it was ever going to happen and all these exterior forces,” Emily said, quickly adding, “But who knows? It could end.”

Let’s hope not.

“Arrow” Season 4 premieres on October 7 at 8/7c on The CW.
