Emma Stone: Fans Will Be ‘Blown Away’ By Andrew Garfield In ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’

Emma Stone says fans shouldn’t expect “The Amazing Spider-Man” to be like the previous big screen take on Marvel’s web-slinger, in fact, web-heads should prepare for an entirely new take on the superhero.

“It’s a different incarnation of Peter Parker… I don’t think there’s much of a comparison,” the actress, who plays Gwen Stacy in the movie, told Access Hollywood this weekend at WonderCon when asked about co-star and rumored boyfriend Andrew Garfield

“It’s a totally different version of Peter Parker than anyone’s ever seen,” she continued. “Andrew is a great actor and I think people are going to be pretty blown away by what they see.”

Director Marc Webb, who was also on hand at WonderCon, explained that his take on the character will include many qualities explored in the comic books.

“There was a trickster mentality and I think Andrew really went to great lengths to embody,” he told Access. “That’s an iconic part of the character that we maybe haven’t seen before.

“He was taken away from his parents at a very young age and that orphan mythology and how the emotional consequence [impacts him] over the course of the film is really important,” he continued. “It’s just something that we haven’t seen before.”

The director also promises plenty of comic book bad guy fun for the web-slinger.

“Not to mention… the Lizard!” he said of the character, played by Rhys Ifans. “He’s a great, great villain from the rogue’s gallery that we’re really excited about.”

“The Amazing Spider-Man” – which also stars Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen and Sally Field – swings into theaters on July 3.
