Emmitt Smith: How Does He Really Feel About His Dancing Elimination?

Dallas Cowboys alum Emmitt Smith is a little disappointed he didn’t make it to the “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars” finals, but he goes home from the show knowing he did his absolute best.

“At the end of the day, I have to look myself in the mirror and I did this morning. And I did last night. And I asked myself one question: Did I give it my all? Did I cheat her — [my partner, Cheryl Burke] — in any way? And my answer is, ‘No,’” Emmitt told Access Hollywood backstage after his Tuesday elimination. “I gave it my all. I came in with the right attitude and I pushed, she pushed. And I pushed myself to a limit that I thought I couldn’t go to and that part I’m proud of.”

Emmitt and Cheryl were eliminated on the same night as Apolo Anton Ohno and Karina Smirnoff.

Cheryl, who won the mirrorball with Emmitt in Season 3, leaves the competition with no regrets.

“I think we did everything we could do and it’s all up to everyone at home to vote and unfortunately we didn’t make it, but, we’ll move on,” she said. “Life goes on. It’s not that big of a deal.

“Emmitt did such a great job,” she continued. “I’m so proud of his determination and what he went through. I mean, we worked so hard and we couldn’t have done it any better.”

With no competition to prepare for next week, Emmitt will indulge in family time over the Thanksgiving holiday.

“[I heard Cheryl] say she’s going back to spend some time with her family, and I’m going to do the same thing in Texas and go cook my kids some deep fried turkey and sit back on the couch and watch some football because I really haven’t had the chance to do it,” he said.

He’ll also let his tootsies take a break.

“Rest that toe of yours,” Cheryl said of Emmitt’s injured foot.

“Oh my big toe. Got to let that mother calm down,” he added, with a laugh.

The “DWTS: All-Stars” finals kick off on Monday at 8/7c on ABC.
