Emmy Fashion: Hits & Misses

HOLLYWOOD (August 28, 2006) — As far as Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush is concerned, two stars shone above the rest on Sunday’s Emmy red carpet.

“It was a fashion coming out party for two stars ? Evangeline Lilly and Katherine Heigl,” Billy noted.

But before we proclaim them the best dressed stars of the night, we’ll let a true fashionista chime in with her hits and misses from TV’s biggest night.

“The Emmy red carpet was hot! It was wild and purple reigned,” proclaimed Stacy London, the host of TLC’s “What Not To Wear.”

Ellen Pompeo, Leah Remini and Allison Janney were among the beauties who made purple the color of Emmy ‘06.

Jamie Pressly rocked eggplant, while Evangeline Lilly lit up the red carpet in a plum Versace gown ? earning the “Lost” star one of Stacy’s Best Dressed Awards for the evening.

“When I put it on and it felt like pajamas and it looked like a million bucks, I knew it was the one,” Evangeline told Stacy.

Meanwhile, Jamie Pressly’s Badgley Mischka was pieced together overseas.

“They sewed it in Italy and beaded it in India and flew it in two days ago,” the “My Name Is Earl” star revealed.

In fact, Jamie showed off two massive trends on the red carpet ? purple and lace.

“How did you know?” Stacy asked her.

“Well, I have a clothing line so I knew eggplant was the new black of the fall and winter and French lace is always amazing,” Pressly added.

Indeed, lace was everywhere.

Access Hollywood’s own Maria Menounos’ high-collared Monique Lhuillier, Lisa Kudrow’s back-laced Valentino, Virginia Madsen’s Kevan Hall and birthday girl Sarah Chalke’s flirty cream-colored Beccaria were just a few of the lacy gowns to stroll Emmy’s red carpet.

“We’re going to give the birthday girl a prize,” Stacy smiled to Sarah. “One of our Access Hollywood best-dressed awards!”

“Are you kidding me! Oh my gosh, this is the best birthday present of all time,” Sarah laughed.

Then there was Tyra Banks, whose George Chakra was worth a staggering $55,000. Not to mention she was draped in $3.5 million worth of jewels.

And others, though just as elegant, chose to go light with creamy beiges and nudes.

After Debra Messing’s assistant took care of her Alberto Ferretti train, we took care of her award count.

“Yet again. This is two times in a row for you,” Stacy told Debra, handing her a Best Dressed Award for the second straight year.

“You know what, I’m going to start crying. This is my last year here,” Messing said.

“Grey’s Anatomy” star Katherine Heigl went with old Hollywood glam in a stunning nude Escada gown.

And after Katherine was done bathing in the glow of the flashbulbs snapping on the red carpet, Stacy showered her with a Best Dressed Award.

“Because you rock,” Stacy smiled.

“I love you guys. I’m so grateful to the people who helped me get here,” Katherine joked.

But of course, they can’t all be hits.

Paula Abdul made a questionable decision in her dress of choice, while Cheryl Hines over accessorized her George Chakra gown, as did Sandra Oh in her Vera Wang, Stacy said.

Better luck next time ladies.
