Emmys: Weird Al, Andy Samberg Parody ‘Game Of Thrones,’ ‘Scandal’

Weird Al Yankovic and Andy Samberg made a special appearance at the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards, performing parodies of hit TV show theme songs, including “Game of Thrones,” “Mad Men,” “Scandal” and more.

Weird Al opened the medley (backed by dancers) singing mock lyrics to the normally instrumental “Mad Men” theme song.

“Mad men, mad men, watch these ad men do their thinking as their drinking rum,” he sang.

Next up was “Scandal’s” theme song, to which Weird Al sang, “Her lip is quivering – it’s not because she’s cold, it’s because she just loves the President.”

The comedian/singer tackled “Homeland” and “Modern Family” before taking on “Game of Thrones.”

“Here comes dragons galore, and some boobs,” he sang. “OK, to be fair, there’s way more boobs.”

Weird Al was then joined by Andy Samberg (dressed as King Joffrey), as they sang, “Don’t get too attached to a certain guy,” he sang, while Andy added, “Have a backup, have a backup.”

“He might drink some poison wine,” Weird Al continued, as Andy sang, “That’s a spoiler, that’s a spoiler!”

The duo then urged (in song) “GoT” author George R.R. Martin to write quickly, as the show needs more scripts, and Andy carried a typewriter to George in the audience.

The “GoT” gag continued after the medley, as Lena Headey presented an Emmy.

The actress, who plays Cersei Lannister on the show, was interrupted by Andy’s Joffrey yelling, “Mother, mother, I think I drank poison! Mother, why don’t you love me like you love Uncle Jaime?”
