‘Empire’ Finale’s Best OMG Moments

“Empire” ended its spectacular Season 1 with two episodes on Wednesday, and we’re still reeling from the drama of it all!

The jam-packed episodes had a hostile takeover, a brawl on a pool table, people being held over the side of a building, sex on a fur rug, sex with your dad’s ex-fiance, a rap battle, a drug-induced murder confession, an accidental killing, a medical miracle, someone going to jail and a guy named Black Rambo… did we leave anything out Boo Boo Kitty?

Here are our favorite one-liners and the moments that had us screaming at our TVs from Wednesday’s two-part finale!

Biggest & Best OMGs and WHAAATs:

Cookie gives Malcolm some of Cookie’s Nookie on a fur rug in a mountain cabin – as one does!

Hakeem calls out Lucious during a freestyle rap with Snoop Dogg. “That poor fool can’t even keep his family together, they say that he the king, well I’m the prince, I’m gonna run the empire and leave with your bitch, I’m gone,” Hakeem raps and then throws the mic. He then gets punched in the face by his dad, or just another day at the Empire office… we feel for that HR department.

Jamal hangs Billy Beretti over the side of a building in an attempt to make him sign over the rights to Lucious’ music – where was Billy’s team of security during all of this? Someone is getting fired.

Lucious catches Hakeem having sex with Anika in a room that only had a curtain and not a door – not the best place to have sex with your dad’s former fiance (and your onetime future stepmom).

Lucious finds out he doesn’t have ALS (and won’t die), but does find out he has MG (Myasthenia gravis) – and then all of America went and Googled, “What is MG?”

In a drug-induced haze (sleeping pills), Lucious admits to Cookie that he killed Cousin Bunkie (pour a lil’ out for Bunkie!) and then is visited by the ghost of Bunkie at the foot of his bed… (“Empire”/”Ghostbusters” reboot cross-over anyone?) After the Cousin Bunkie confession, Cookie then tried to smoother Lucious with a pillow, just as it cuts to commercial!

After cheating death-by-pillow, Lucious has a gift-giving ceremony where hands over control of Empire to Jamal, gives Hakeem creative control of his career and Andre a foundation and when Cookie opens her gift box she finds a mini-pillow. (Do we think Becky had to go shopping for a mini-pillow?)

At the press conference announcing Jamal’s takeover of Empire, we meet a rapper named Black Rambo (that name is not a joke) and we also met Black Rambo’s homophobia. Black Rambo announces that real MCs shouldn’t be at a company run by a gay man… no word if Black Rambo took a time machine to the press conference.

After having brawl on a pool table, Cookie and Anika – along with Hakeem and Andre – plan a hostile takeover of Empire.

In the night’s most “8 Mile” moment, Jamal confronts Black Rambo at a club and has a rap battle with him, except when Jamal rap battles, he really just freestyle sings and says, “bitch” at the end. Cue club crowd going wild.

Back at Andre’s house, things go south when Rhonda accidentally kills Vernon while trying to save Andre’s life during a fight. She also reveals she’s pregnant seconds after killing Vernon… yes, it got that crazy!

Empire goes public on the NYSE, Lucious tells Jamal that his real name is Dwight Walker (How long before Lucious’ Dwight Walker album drops?) and the Lucious Lyon Sound concert kicks off…but Lucious never makes it to the stage because he’s arrested for the murder of Bunkie. Who was the snitch you say? Well, unfortunately it was Vernon, who Rhonda killed, which is bad for Andre and everyone else attempting the hostile takeover because Vernon was the fed’s star witness in their case against Lucious, and they need Lucious charged with a crime in order for the coup to go down… are you still with us?

The last shot of the finale is Lucious seen behind bars with this epic voiceover, “You may think you’ve gotten away with it. But don’t fool yourself, this is only the beginning. See, the streets couldn’t defeat me, disease couldn’t stop me, even God can’t kill me! The day will come when Lucious Lyon will return.”
