Exclusive: Shaun White Confirms Intention To Compete In 2018 Winter Olympics

Shaun White is ready to take another run at Olympic gold!

The snowboarding star joined Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on
Wednesday’s Access Hollywood Live, and revealed his intentions to compete in
the 2018 Olympic Games in South Korea.

Of course,” Shaun said, when asked if he’s
planning to “revisit” the halfpipe once again. “Oh yeah. 2018!
That’s the plan.

His decision is one he’s been mulling for a while, he added.

It was already in my head from before,” Shaun
said. “It takes a little time to get back in the swing of things.

After clinching first place in 2006 and 2010, the athlete
took fourth in the 2014 Sochi Games — a disappointing finish he hopes to
redeem.

Nothing’s more motivating than a loss,” he told
Billy and Kit.

Shaun will have turned 31 before the next Games, but
considers his age an asset despite no longer being the young phenom he was when
he started out.

It seems easier now, just because I’m more focused,
he said. “I’m more aware of my strengths and weaknesses, and how to
practice more consistently.

He’s even taking his physical fitness more seriously,
admitting it’s “ridiculous” he hadn’t been more disciplined when he
was younger.

I actually just got a trainer for the first
time,
” Shaun said, revealing that he’d recently watched a tennis
documentary that inspired him to “get some help.”

I was always just winging it as a kid,” he
continued, adding that’s he’s also incorporated a regimented diet to maintain
his agility.

I gotta flip in the air!” he laughed.
