Family Member Explains Baldwin 911 Call: ‘Ireland Loves Her Dad’

Alec Baldwin’s daughter, Ireland, called 911 thanks to “a misunderstanding,” her uncle, Don “Skip” Basinger, told People.

“Ireland was talking to her dad and they got into an argument,” Basinger, the brother of Alec’s ex-wife, Kim Basinger, told the mag. “He got upset. She tried to call him back and she couldn’t reach him, so she called 911… it was a simple little thing, a misunderstanding.”

Basinger added that the teenager, who was calling Baldwin’s New York apartment from LA, is no stranger to arguments with the “30 Rock” star.

“Ireland calls him, he calls her. Ireland loves her dad,” Basinger explained. “But kids and their dads are always arguing. Have you ever tried to raise a [teenager?]”

As previously reported by AccessHollywood.com, Baldwin was briefly hospitalized early Thursday morning following the 911 call.

According to the Associated Press, his daughter told authorities that she became alarmed after her father said, “I’m tired of this. I’m going to take some pills. I’m going to end this,” during a phone call.

Hours after being released from the hospital, the actor was involved in a scuffle with a member of the paparazzi on Thursday night outside of his New York City apartment building.

A spokesperson at the New York Police Department previously told Access Hollywood a photographer reportedly grabbed the star after as he entered his apartment building on Thursday.

Baldwin called his doorman to summon police and authorities arrived on the scene shortly thereafter.

At present, no charges have been filed from either side.
