Fans Howl & Growl For ‘New Moon’ Cast At Comic-Con

“New Moon” stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart – with jet-black hair for her “Runaways” role as rocker Joan Jett – and Taylor Lautner caused a fan firestorm as the famous threesome kicked off the 40th anniversary of Comic-Con International in San Diego on Thursday.

AccessHollywood.com’s Laura “Dish of Salt” Saltman was on the convention floor getting the scoop at the Con’s hottest panel, where she learned that despite Edward’s absence from much of the movie, fans will not be disappointed.

“Robert, you’re not in it as much as you were in the last one. How did you guys address that in this film?” Laura asked.

“He’s in it… a lot,” Kristen said.

“They won’t be disappointed either,” Robert told Access. “I just watched the clip which they are going to play later and people will forget immediately that feeling.”

Kristen said Robert’s character, Edward, has to leave in order for the story to work.

“If he doesn’t go, then you can’t miss him and that’s what this movie is about,” she said. “You know, empty, [a] completely dark place where Edward is absent.”

Taylor said Robert would be missed a great deal if he were actually missing from the movie.

“But if he was absent…they would miss him very dearly,” Taylor told the crowd. “He’s just humble.”

Robert revealed how the movie’s producers were able to include more of him in the movie.

“It’s just a voice, just Edward’s voice in the book,” Robert explained. “It would have probably been pretty cheesy if it were just my voice, so they’ve done these hallucinations, semi-visible apparitions.”

Robert also confessed to enjoying his new supporting role in “New Moon.”

“I had a stress-free job for about three months, all the pressure was on Taylor,” Robert said of his co-star, who fans will see transform into a werewolf in the upcoming movie.

A change Taylor was very happy to see happen.

“I thought they did a pretty good job with the wolf transformation. I’m excited that there are werewolves now. The werewolves definitely step up the action in this movie. There’s double the action in this movie,” Taylor said. “There’s not just this romance between a human girl and a vampire, there’s also the beginning of a love triangle.”

But Taylor did say there is one drawback to his new status as Hollywood’s most famous werewolf.

“Well I get asked to [growl] by fans,” he said with a laugh. “And I really don’t enjoy doing that!”

“New Moon” is due in theaters on November 20.
