Fans Offer Mixed Reviews Of ‘Spider-Man 3’

Today, 11,000 screens in North America (the largest number ever) will finally show “Spider-Man 3,” which means it’s time to put some of the big time box office records on notice.

At 12:01 a.m. last night, die hard New York fans dashed into the first “Spider” showing. And first thing this morning, the web slinger drew in even more fans to sold out theaters.

“I had high expectations and they proved me right,” one fan said exiting the theater. “I think this was the best one!”

“I’m ready to go watch it again,” another fan said after sitting through the two-and-a-half hour film.

Meanwhile, the critics appear to be caught in the web, giving the third installment nearly all “See its,” including Access Hollwyood’s Scott “Movie” Mantz.

“We made a good movie and we are glad. People will enjoy it,” Tobey Maguire told Access Hollywood.

However, not all fans came out of the theater with rave reviews.

“It was horrible, the worst movie I’ve seen all year,” one moviegoer bemoaned.

In an Associated Press article, another fan called it “corny” while a third complained that “Tobey Maguire cried in literally two out of three hours of the movie.”

Nevertheless, Sony is banking on the film being a huge success. The first “Spider-Man” opened with nearly $115 million in its first weekend.

“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” holds the opening weekend record with $136 million.
