Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them: Producer Says Potter-Inspired Film Will Be ‘Very Special’

Almost as if there were actually horcruxes out there, “Harry Potter” fans are searching for details about the upcoming J.K. Rowling-written movie, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” which is inspired by a book first mentioned in “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.”

“Potter” producer David Heyman spoke about the project with ComingSoon.net.

“I can’t talk really about it yet,” Heyman told the site. “All I can say is that it’s great. [Rowling] had no need to go back to this universe or world. It’s not ‘Harry Potter’ per se, but the world of Harry. She’s chosen to do so because she felt a need to tell a story. That she’s doing it means that it’s going to be very, very special.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Rowling gave fans some insight into the project when it was announced last week.

“Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for 17 years, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world,” Rowling said in a statement. “The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry’s gets underway.

According to the studio, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” will be the first in a series of films.
