‘Fifty Shades Darker’ To Be ‘More Of A Thriller’

If “Fifty Shades of Grey” left you wanting a little more in the thrill department, just wait until the sequel debuts!

Universal Pictures Chairman Donna Langley recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the highly anticipated sequel, “Fifty Shades Darker,” and explained that it’s going to be much more than a girl meets a boy (who then engaged in some R-rated S&M) story.

She described the second film as “more of a thriller.”

In the second E L James novel (*spoilers from the book ahead!), a new character attempts to blackmail Anastasia Steele into being with him, a former submissive of Christian Grey stalks Ana and someone attempts to kill Christian in a plot line that is not wrapped up the third novel, “Fifty Shades Freed.”

Langley also spoke about the creative differences on set between the author and director Sam Taylor-Johnson, who is not returning for the next two films.

“For the record, the movie we ended up making is exactly the movie I wanted to make and that the studio wanted to make and that our director wanted to make,” she explained.
