First Lady Michelle Obama & Sarah Jessica Parker Team Up For The Arts

The first lady of fashion is partnering with Michelle Obama, the First Lady of the United States. Sarah Jessica Parker is involved with the White House’s Turnaround Arts Program. It brings arts into the country’s most underprivileged schools to increase student engagement, and on Wednesday, Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush sat down with the two women to talk about the program and more.

“So many schools in this country — our kids don’t have access to any form of arts education, so we have been partnering with high profile artists like Sarah Jessica and a bunch of others. They’ve gone into these schools, they’ve provided teacher training, they’ve provided supplies, they’ve done performances,” Mrs. Obama continued. “And today, we’re having a talent show. And we’re here to celebrate that, but we’re also announcing that we’re expanding this program to 35 schools, which will help 10,000 kids around the country, so that’s our big announcement today.”

Both women were on hand for that talent show on Wednesday at the White House. That’s where Sarah Jessica got back to her Broadway roots, dancing to “Annie’s” “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile.” But, as Billy found out in the interview, 12-year-old Sasha Obama also has a flair for dance.

“My youngest loves dancing,” Mrs. Obama said. “She dances in an organized program several times a week, but they’re into what kids are into – they’re counting down to summer.”

And with summer comes a host of activities. Mrs. Obama said there is volunteering, internships and camp for her children, and one new challenge for Malia Obama, 15.

“One child is going to be driving this summer. Look out,” Mrs. Obama told Billy.

“With Secret Service in the back?” Billy asked.

“We’ve got a plan,” Mrs. Obama said.

“Has there been any dating in the White House?” Billy asked.

Mrs. Obama declined to discuss that topic, but said of her children, “they’re good. They’re good. The girls are good.”

On Wednesday’s Access Hollywood, Mrs. Obama and Sarah Jessica discuss their husbands’ styles.
