Former ‘American Idol’ Contender Alex Lambert Gets Second Shot At Fame

The fans have spoken to keep booted “Idol” Alex Lambert’s “Dream” alive.

Demi Moore was just one of the many “American Idol” fans disappointed by the elimination of the teen Texan singer earlier this season on the FOX reality program, but producers behind the show are set to give him a second chance at fame, as Alex has been cast in the online series “If I Can Dream.”

It wasn’t Demi’s Tweet that convinced 19 Entertainment to give Alex another shot, but rather an online petition from “Idol” viewer Jessica Bongiorno, who gathered more than 20,000 signatures to get the 19-year-old high schooler back in the game.

Alex will now be a part of “If I Can Dream,” what 19 Entertainment calls a “talent discovery platform” from “Idol” creator Simon Fuller that airs online on and on the “If I Can Dream” Web site.

Alex will move into the house for the first time on Thursday April 1 at 5 PM, but viewers will see a different side of the singer when he does. In promo shots for “If I Can Dream,” Alex’s trademark mullet is gone, replaced by a shorter, spikier cut.

“If I Can Dream” will give Alex the opportunity to meet music managers, record labels and to perform in front of live audiences across Los Angeles.

Among the other hopefuls in the house will be Miley Cyrus’ ex-boyfriend, Justin Gaston.
