Fountain Of Youth: Kristin Davis Shares Her Beauty Secrets

This summer, Kristin Davis will star in one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year, when her former HBO show, “Sex and the City,” hits the big screen.

Amazingly, the fresh-faced beauty turns 43 on Saturday and as Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson found out, she remains youthful by letting her inner beauty shine through.

“Hello ‘Miss Fountain of Youth Beauty!’” Shaun exclaimed when she sat down with Kristin as part of Access Hollywood’s Fountain of Youth series.

“You are so sweet,” a shy Kristin said.

“When you heard [we gave you] that title, did you say, ‘Wow?’” Shaun asked.

“I thought, ‘What is going on? What are they doing? Are they sure they want me?’” Kristin admitted. “It was very flattering.”

So how does Kristin retain her Fountain of Youth glow? One way is by being realistic.

“If you are trying to say, ‘OK! I want to look in the mirror for the next 20 years and not see any changes,’ I just feel you have kind of lost touch with reality,” she said. “I feel we have lost the idea that smile lines are beautiful. When they have all these ads where they have lines drawn on your face and they say these shouldn’t be there, well, that would mean that you had never smiled or laughed and that’s just not right.”

Instead of scrutinizing those lines, Kristin, who’s the spokesperson for a natural skincare line from Israel called Ahava, would rather focus on health.

“It’s [made of] all the minerals [that] are found in the Dead Sea [and] in nature,” Kristin said. “The minerals are so strong it makes you tingle, so I have to use that sparingly. It’s exciting. I always feel like, ‘Oooh!’”

What else does she do to stay looking so good? The girl we first fell in love with as she played a conniving assistant alongside Heather Locklear, Andrew Shue and Courtney Thorne-Smith in “Melrose Place” hasn’t touched alcohol since she was 22.

Though you might have seen Kristin light up on TV as Charlotte in “Sex and The City,” Kristin doesn’t smoke either.

“I don’t smoke and I have never smoked,” Kristin explained. “My mom — that was one of her things she was strict about.”

Kristin’s mother, Dorothy, definitely passed on some amazing genes and advice to her daughter.

“My main one is less is better,” Dorothy shared.

“Did she ever leave the house with too much makeup and you said, ‘No!’” Shaun asked Kristin’s mom.

“As a teenager, she wore more makeup than I would of chosen for her but…” Dorothy began.

“That is because my mom wouldn’t even put lipstick on! She is under-playing [it],” Kristin laughed. “When she says, ‘Less is more,’ she means like no makeup, barely washing her face. I would be like, “Mom! You have to put moisturizer on.”

“But if you don’t put stuff on, you don’t have to wash stuff off,” Dorothy laughed.

As for how she keeps in shape, Kristin said she loves exercise, even if she hates the gym. Instead, she hikes with her dogs, until recently that is.

While reprising the role of Charlotte for “Sex and The City,” Kristin took on one of Charlotte’s traits – jogging.

“I knew I would be running so I went back onto the treadmill for Charlotte,” Kristin said. “I would be doing yoga, I would be doing Pilates. I love Pilates. But you know I don’t like anything forever, I get bored.”

“You always seem to be happy. Do you get down and how do you get yourself up?” Shaun asked.

“Yes Shaun, I’m human,” Kristin giggled. “I am not perfect, I have bad days. I get cranky. I have snapped at fans. I mean I am not perfect, believe me. The sad look on their face when it happens is terrible because they think I am going to be Charlotte, but it’s so clear they realize that I am not and they are just really disappointed.

“I am certainly moody and there are some times when honestly, I think to myself ‘You know what? Today I should just stay home because I am not in the mood and if I go to the grocery store, something bad is gonna happen. So I should just stay around the house,’” she said.
