FROM THE NEWS DESK: Is It Really Over?

By McKay Heim and George Larrimore

RESTING: Anna Nicole Smith?s body has been laid to rest. After some delays from Virgie Arthur and her attorneys trying to halt the burial, the memorial service started late after the judge denied Virgie?s last minute effort to stop the service. The parties all arrived separately. Larry arrived first to the church, being cheered by the onlookers. He was wearing a special pink tie that he bought for this day. Howard arrived next followed by the white hearse that carried Anna Nicole?s body. Virgie arrived late and last with an entourage of 10.

SERVICE: It was then time for Anna Nicole to make her final entrance. The pink clothed casket with pink silk ribbons, feathers and rhinestones entered the church up a red carpet carried by former bodyguards and Ron Rale, her paternity attorney and friend of Howard K. Stern. The over the top ceremony decked out in pink lasted about an hour and half. After the service, the body was loaded back into the hearse with Larry Birkhead, his attorney, Debra Opri, and Howard K. Stern all standing together. They then went to the more private graveside service.

VENOM: The memorial service began as a very sentimental service and there were very somber and powerful moments. Virgie spoke first and talked about being her mother. Larry Birkhead then spoke about how special she was and meant something to each and everyone at the service and ended by saying Goodnight, Sweet Anna, baby just like he used to and then he touched the casket and wept. Howard was the final in the triangle to speak, he talked about love, and then he attacked Anna?s ?so called family members.? He promised to protect their baby, Dannielynn. Then he looked in the direction of Virgie and said very pointed comments about how he lived it and knew the truth.

EXHUMED?: Daniel?s father, Billy Smith, will present a case to the Bahamas Magistrate on Tuesday to have Daniel?s body exhumed and moved back to Texas. If this happens, it could throw a big wrench in many of the decisions about Anna?s burial that have been made. Although it seems like Billy changed his mind, just last week he told Judge Seidlin he thought that Daniel should have originally been buried in Texas but it was Anna?s choice to bury him in the Bahamas and that Anna should be laid to rest next to her son.

BATTLES CONTINUE: Even in death and after she is laid to rest next to her son, Daniel, the legal battles will continue. Mid-March will be another hectic time in the Bahamian courts; March 14 is when the ownership of the Horizons home where Anna, Howard and Dannielynn have called home will be determined. The custody battle of Dannielynn will continue and by March 16, the lab to do the DNA testing in the paternity matters will have been chosen. The last battle to be fought in the courts on March 27 is the Bahamian Inquest into the death of Daniel.

GOT SOME SOUL?: We know who does. The Soul Train Music Awards will be handed out March 10, 2007 in Pasadena, CA and honor some of today?s biggest stars. Jermaine Dupri will be presented with the Quincy Jones Award for Outstanding Career Achievements. Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds will be presented with the Stevie Wonder Award for Outstanding Career Achievements in Songwriting. Jennifer Hudson and Chris Brown will both be honored with the Sammy Davis, Jr. Award for female and male Entertainer of the Year. Jennifer Hudson must be one of the most honored new artists this year. She adds this award to 17 others she has won since she was voted off American Idol last year.
