‘Game Of Thrones’: Emilia Clarke Did ‘Funky Chicken’ Dance To Win Daenerys Role

She’s a formidable force on “Game of Thrones,” but it was Emilia Clarke’s dance moves which won her the coveted role of Daenerys Targaryen on the HBO show.

“I did the robot, followed by the funky chicken,” the 26-year-old actress told WSJ. Magazine of her “GoT” callback, where she busted a move on a dare from producer David Benioff. “I think it sealed the deal.”

While the show boasts a large cast, Emilia said she’s often a bit secluded from her fellow actors, as the Mother of Dragons is in a different part of the fantasy world, gathering her army.

“We’re [often] in totally different locations,” said Emilia said, who filmed Season 4 in Ireland and Croatia.

The actress added that she sometimes meets castmates for the first time not on set, but at industry events.

“You’re at an awards show, saying ‘Lovely to meet you. We’re in a show together, apparently. You’re really good!’” she said.
