Game Of Thrones: Mark Gatiss Of Sherlock Talks Joining Season 4

“Sherlock” co-creator and co-star Mark Gatiss has joined the cast of “Game of Thrones” Season 4, and he chatted about the experience at Comic-Con with AccessHollywood.com on Thursday.

“I had no idea they were gonna say,” Mark said on the “Sherlock” press line, when he spoke with Access about the news breaking that he’d joined the HBO show for Season 4.

The actor said he could reveal “nothing at all” about his new role, but added, “I can do a Northern Irish accent though, that’s all I can do today.”

Mark actually has already filmed his role on the show

“I’ve done it,” he told Access. “We’ve had a couple of months, you see, between ‘Sherlocks’ because Martin’s [Freeman] been doing ‘The Hobbit.’”

As a new member of the cast, Mark admitted he did feel a little overwhelmed by the amount of characters.

“I have to say… there’s a very traditional thing, growing up with ‘Doctor Who,’ ‘cause I’d read interviews with actors where they’d say things like, ‘I didn’t understand a word of it, but it was a lot of fun.’ And I felt a bit like that because there are so many names in ‘Game of Thrones,’” he said.

But, Mark said he wasn’t alone in trying to keep it all straight on the “GOT” set.

“I was talking to some of the other actors and they said, ‘We don’t remember who everyone is anyway,’” he said. “They have little numbers on people’s pictures. No, I’m absolutely chuffed.”
