‘Game Of Thrones’: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau On Tyrion’s Actions, Getting Recognized In The Bathroom

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s Jaime Lannister made a life-saving decision on behalf of his brother, Tyrion, in the Season 4 finale of “Game of Thrones.”

(This story contains spoilers if you are not up to date with the HBO show!)

After his brother was sentenced to death, Jaime helped Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) escape. But, Tyrion proceeded to kill their father, Tywin Lannister, on his way out – something Nikolaj said he doesn’t think will sit well with Jaime when “GoT” returns for Season 5.

“It’s tricky – he helped Tyrion escape but I don’t think Jaime expected Tyrion to go and kill their father,” he told Access Hollywood at Comic-Con 2014 in San Diego. “That wasn’t really cool, I think.”

The actor said he’s been missing his castmates (“all of them”), and revealed which one of his co-stars he’d like to see have their own spinoff show.

“The Hound. The Hound would be a cool guy to follow,” he said, referencing Sandor Clegane, played by Rory McCann.

While Nikolaj is thrilled that “GoT” has become an incredible hit (it is HBO’s most watched show ever), he said fame does have its drawbacks when it comes to being recognized by excited fans in awkward places.

“[The most awkward place] was in the shower in a gym. And actually peeing in a stall as well!” he said, when asked if he’s experienced any strange fan meetings.

“You just kind of go, ‘Can we just do this after? Once I’m dressed, or once my privates are inside my pants again?'” he laughed.

“Game of Thrones” Season 5 will premiere in the spring on HBO.
