‘Game Of Thrones’: Kit Harington Apologizes To Fans

It
turns out Melisandre did know something about Jon Snow – how to
raise him from the dead.

After
Davos Seaworth (who still doesn’t know she’s responsible for
the death of his beloved surrogate daughter, Shireen Baratheon), gave an
inspiring pep talk to the Red Priestess (Carice van Houten), she attempted to
bring Jon Snow (Kit Harington) back from the dead. Her confidence and faith
still rocked, she gave up when nothing happened and left the room. Davos did too.
But, just a few moments later, Ghost stirred right before Jon Snow (Kit
Harington) opened his eyes and took a deep breath.

“Sorry.
I’d like to say sorry for lying to everyone,” Kit said in a video, posted
on Entertainment Weekly’s website immediately after the episode aired, and it
was finally confirmed that Jon Snow would not be staying dead, as fans suspected.

“I’m glad that people were upset that he died,” Kit told the mag, noting his “biggest fear” was that fans wouldn’t care his character had died.

“But it seems like people had a, similar to the Red Wedding episode, a kind of grief about it, which means that something I’m doing or that the show is right,” he added.

Carice, who spoke with People.com, hinted that when her character finds out Jon Snow is back, it will help restore some of the faith Melisandre lost.

“She doesn’t believe that it’s her that does it. She believes always that there is something bigger that makes her do it, so she’s not like, ‘I’m a big sorceress,’ no, she follows the Lord. She regains a little bit of her belief,” the actress told the website.

Jon Snow’s reawakening wasn’t the only twist from Sunday night’s show. The episode featured the death of Balon Greyjoy (which book readers had been waiting for, for some time), and the murder of Roose Bolton. Roose was stabbed to death by his former bastard son Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon), who later went on to kill his stepmother, Walda Frey, and his baby half-brother too.

Michael McElhatton, who played Roose (the character that turned on Robb Stark at the Red Wedding) told TV Line he expected fans would be pleased by his character’s exit.

“I definitely think so… Yeah, I think a lot of people are going to be very happy. Of course they are,” he told the website.

The actor said if his character and Walda had welcomed a daughter, Roose might still be breathing.

“Well we kind of came to a decision when we were filming it that it really was a spur-of-the-moment thing. And the information that is given is that it’s a boy that had been born. Now if it had been a girl, I may still have been alive, because his position would not be threatened,” Michael said.

“Game of Thrones” continues Sundays at 9 PM ET/PT on HBO.
