Genie Francis – one half of the soap opera world’s most famous couple, Luke and Laura – is returning to “General Hospital.”
A rep for ABC confirmed to Access Hollywood on Tuesday that the actress will return this year to the soap to play Laura Spencer (nee Webber).
Genie’s first appearance back on the air is February 11, exactly 50 days before the 50th anniversary of the daytime drama.
According to Entertainment Weekly, which first reported the news, Genie will begin filming her Port Charles return later this month.
No details were available on how Genie’s character, Laura, will appear on her return. She was in a catatonic state for some time, but eventually woke up and left town to seek treatment.
Laura’s daughter, Lulu, is currently struggling with fertility issues (and Maxie is no longer pregnant with Lulu and Dante’s baby), while Luke is hung up on Anna Devane.
The soap celebrates 50 years on the air on April 1.
