George Clooney and Sandra Bullock have been close for 20 years and the co-stars value their long-lasting friendship over a possible romance.
Access Hollywood caught up the big screen pair at the premiere of “Gravity” in New York City on Monday, where they dished on finally working together and why they have always kept it just friends.
“You know we always wanted to [work together],” George told Access. “We just never found the right gig and it sort of just happened.”

As it turns out, the 52-year-old actor said his role in the Alfonso Cuaron movie was supposed to go to another Hollywood leading man.
“I think it was initially going to be like Robert Downey Jr. or someone else like that, and then Alfonso called me up and said, ‘Do you want to do the film?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, I’d love to work with Sandy.’ [And] I’d love to work with him. So it was fun for me,” he continued.
As for a possible romance between the longtime friends, George told Access that they prefer the setup that has worked for so long.
“Look at what good friends we’ve stayed,” the Oscar winner told Access. “Isn’t it much nicer?”
George – who is reportedly in the midst of a romance with Croatian model Monika Jakisic — did grow close with Sandra’s 3-year-old son, Louis, while filming the space drama.
“Louis and I hung out a little bit. It was a bunch of guys at the house and she was staying there and Louis likes to play a little ball, a little basketball… he’s got a couple of [moves], he can’t go to his left yet. But you know he’s young,” George joked.
Sandra, 49, told Access she was thrilled to find out she would star alongside her longtime pal.
“I knew that I would have a comrade and someone that I knew and someone that I’m comfortable around and someone that gets my quirks and I get his,” she explained. “Someone that I’ve known for a while.”
The actress joked that in addition to her son, she’s helping George make his way in the world.
“Children run to George, George runs from the children. That’s what George does,” she said. “George is like my second child. George and Louis, I’m pretty much raising the two of them. I’m trying to get George out of the house and off to college. Um, Louis’s a little bit behind.”
“Gravity” opens in theaters on Friday.
