George Lopez & Wife Divorcing After 17 Years

Late night host and comedian George Lopez and his wife, Ann, are divorcing, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

“George and Ann Lopez have made the decision to end their 17 year marriage. The decision is amicable and by mutual agreement,” a rep for Lopez said in a statement to Access Hollywood. “They remain dedicated parents, and committed partners in business and their philanthropic organization, The Lopez Foundation.”

According to TMZ, who first reported the news, a source said the details of their split have been being worked out “for a long time.”

In 2005, Ann donated one of her kidneys to her husband after one of his deteriorated due to a genetic disorder called narrow ureters.

Following the transplant George told People, “For the first time in my life, because of Ann, I’m going to live the healthy life that I should have been living. Whatever happens to me professionally and wherever my golf swing goes, nothing is more important than the fact that my wife gave me a chance to live. I can’t pay her back, but what I can do is make her as happy as she thought I would when we first got married.”

The couple has a 15-year-old daughter, Mayan, together.

Last week the pair attended the Padres El Contra Cancer’s 25th anniversary gala in Hollywood together.
