George Lucas Engaged To Longtime Girlfriend Mellody Hobson

George Lucas has let go of “Star Wars” and is now starting another chapter in his life – an upcoming marriage.

The famed director, who sold his “Star Wars” franchise to Disney last year, is engaged to Mellody Hobson, HuffPost Celebrity reported.

Lucas was previously married to Marcia Lucas from 1969 to 1983. This marks the first marriage for Hobson, a businesswoman and a financial contributor on “Good Morning America.”

The couple has been dating for seven years.

In December Access Hollywood caught up with Lucas and found out that his role as a creative consultant on the next “Star Wars” movie should be a walk in a galactic park for the director.

“[If the filmmakers ask],‘Who’s this guy?’ I can tell them,” he told Access at the time. “I mean, they have a hundred encyclopedias and things, but I actually know a lot. I can say, ‘This is this and this is that.’”

The filmmaker said that answering questions about the more remote characters of his beloved galaxy may be where his involvement ends.

“Basically I’m not — I don’t really have much to do,” he added.
