Getting ‘Dy-nasty!’

Nobody whipped up the suds like the catty cast of “Dynasty!”

And with a special — “Dynasty Reunion: Catfights & Caviar” — set to air, Access put the soap’s stars — Joan “Alexis” Collins, Linda “Krystle” Evans, Pamela Sue “Fallon” Martin, Catherine “Amanda” Oxenberg, Gordon “Adam” Thomson and Al “Steven” Corley — to the test.

Our first quiz question: What was the original title of the series?

“That’s a no-brainer,” Joan said. “It was ‘Oil.’”

“I wonder why they lost that title?” Catherine joked.

Allrighty then. Who was the original actress offered the part of “Alexis?”

“Elizabeth Taylor,” Al said.

“Was it Elizabeth Taylor?” asked Catherine, before pointing to husband, Casper Van Dien and saying, “You’re wrong! You’re feeding me the wrong line!”

“Sophia Loren,” Gordon asked.

“Sophia Loren,” Pamela Sue said.

“No way!” Catherine laughed.

“That’s what I said when I won the Golden Globe,” Joan laughed. “I want to thank Sophia Loren for turning down the role.”

Next question: Before John Forsythe, who was the first actor to play Blake Carrington?

“George Peppard,” Catherine and Linda both guessed right.

“From what I understand, he didn’t want to play it the way they wanted it played, so, they mutually agreed that it would be better if somebody else played it, which thrilled me,” Linda explained. “Because then John Forsythe got the part.”

Which former U.S. president appeared on “Dynasty?”

“Oh, I see his face,” Linda said.

“Reagan?” Pamela Sue asked.

Nope!

“I know I can see it,” Linda said.

“Reagan didn’t?” asked Catherine, pointing to Casper. “He fed me another wrong line?”

Well, Catherine, that’s what you get for cheating with the help of your husband!

“I gave you the George Peppard one!” Caspar laughed.

“I said it!” Catherine exclaimed.

“No, I said it!” Casper laughed. “I’m going upstairs!”

“OK!” Catherine laughed.

So, which president honed his acting chops on the soap set?

“Ford! President Ford,” Joan guessed.

Correct!

“It’s not every day you get to work with the president in a scene,” Linda said.

“It was a coup indeed,” Joan said.

How many catfights did “Alexis” and “Krystle” get into?

“On screen?” Al joked. “I’m kidding!”

“They had three catfights!” Joan said.

“I thought we fought more often than that,” Linda said. “Or at least I wanted to fight her more often than that!”

“I can remember at least four,” Catherine said.

Right again!

“I liked the early ones,” Gordon laughed.

“So they had the pillow fight, the mud fight, they had the lily pond fight, they had the fight in the dressing room with the feather boas,” Joan said.

“I enjoyed the challenge of it,” Linda laughed. “Joan, on the other hand, just doesn’t like it at all!”
