Glam Slam: Be My Valentine

Satin or lace? Nightie or nightgown? You know Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching when all the store windows are filled with sexy lingerie. But if any of you out there are like me, lingerie shopping has a tendency to not be nearly as much fun as your significant other would like it to be.

We went shopping with someone whose work wardrobe consists mostly of items you and I would only dare to put on for a very special night — Showtime’s resident sexpert “Secret Diary of a Call Girl” star Billie Piper. And we quickly found out at the sexy Hollywood boutique Agent Provocateur that this British Bombshell intimately knows her intimates.

First, Billie tells us “you want to go classy and simple” and with something, well, easy to get on and off. And, what’s a holiday without a costume — like a naughty nurse outfit? But if you’re like me and you save your costumes for Halloween, there are plenty of more sensual Valentine’s splurges. Ranging anywhere from $200-$550, Agent Provocateur has the perfect subtle and seductive lingerie sets that combine classic clean lines with basic black.

And men, if you’re looking to buy a little something special for your lady, stick to basic black. It is the safest option for lingerie due to its slimming nature and unique ability to mask certain problem areas. Not to mention, I’ve never come across a woman who doesn’t feel sexy in black lingerie.

Looking to add a cute factor? Go for a knitwear look. It’s a bit more casual, but the knitted fabric has a very sexy see through texture. Agent Provocateur’s unexpectedly edgy and heart covered pajamas bare a strong message that Billie was particularly fond of – love me or die.

And if traditional is more your thing, you can’t go wrong in a slip-style satin nightgown. Since a nightgown is a bit more forgiving than lingerie, Billie recommends trading in the basic black for a pop of color like hot pink, perfect to surprise your Valentine. And as an added bonus, Billie says to end the night with a little strip show!

But men listen up – if you aren’t sure how buying lingerie will go over with your very special Valentine, my recommendation is to stick with the basics. You can’t go wrong with a dozen roses and a nice dinner out, but be sure to make reservations and pick up the check! Oh, and a bottle of wine and a hot bath could go a long way once you’re back in the privacy of your own home.
