Glam Slam: Best-Dressed List?

Vanity Fair released its annual “International Best-Dressed List” today. I love lists. I am a classic Type A person who can’t get enough of lists of any kind. But this one always leaves me scratching my head. Why? Well, I guess it’s safe to say that I’m not part of the in crowd, not enough of a jet-setter to even know who most of the people are on the list, much less care about what they are wearing. Sorry Count Manfredi della Gherardesca!

And while the magazine aims to set itself apart from all the other best-dressed lists out there by including people other than famous stars, those are the ones I always look forward to seeing most. So I’m gonna stick with what I know… Hollywood, mixed with a little Presidential Posh.

BEST-DRESSED WOMEN

Peneope Cruz: Agree, always classic and elegant. Audrey Hepburn is her style icon and it shows.

Anne Hathaway: Think her style has really evolved and she’s come into her own.

Alicia Keys: Has made some interesting choices over the years, not all of which I agree with, but lately, gorgeous!

Kelly Ripa: I like how she dresses, but somehow it doesn’t seem like she’s in the same league.

BEST-DRESSED MEN

Tiki Barber: Sharp. Says his style icons are Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack. Mission accomplished.

Daniel Craig: Agree. Suave. Classic.

President Barack Obama: Smooth. Except maybe for the “dad” jeans he wore to throw out the first pitch at the All-Star Game.

Brad Pitt: Can’t get enough! Love his casual style as much as his red carpet ensembles.

HALL OF FAME

Catherine Deneuve: Tres chic… in a classic French way.

Renee Zellweger: She says Carolina Herrera is one of her style icons, which makes sense since she wears a lot of Carolina Herrera. Stylish? Yes, but a little too predictable for me. Take some risks, girl!

First Lady Michelle Obama gets a shout-out too, of course. I love her hi-low style and think that of the folks who made the list, she is the most representative of “real” people. And in light of the economy VF asked their style elite to divulge their favorite Bargain-Hunting Locale. Mrs. O’s is J. Crew. President Obama’s is the Secret Service employees’ store. Alicia Keys picked the Barneys Warehouse Sale.
